Absolute Design Case Studies

APD recently undertook a cost reduction and design for manufacture project to improve the RTE8000 Travel Document Scanner.

Replacing expensive, screwed-together components with 2 injection moulded chassis enabled a reduced build time and helped to increase sales. PCB's are now clipped into the chassis which means big savings during assembly. The APD concept of building standard modules for stock and fitting customer options during final assembly is working well.

Chris Scorey of RTE said: "We are delighted. Our objectives have been fulfilled in excess of expectations. I would happily recommend APD."

During its first year the product was adopted by several governments, including the US Department of Homeland Security. Globally, it is one of the top three of its kind.
